Engineers have now been able to fully assess the problems to the bridge. The faults are preventing the bridge from operating safely and due to the location and nature of the fault the Trust have not been able to carry out the necessary repairs today.

Unfortunately, because the bridge cannot be used, the navigation is closed until at least 10am on Tuesday 18th March.  Major repairs will be required to the bridge next week, the Trust are looking into how limited navigation can be safely provided until the full extent of the repairs are completed.

To help those boating customers planning to travel along the Caldon through this location next week, please can they contact the Central Shires local Waterway office on 0303 0404040 to advise the date of travel and contact details so that we can keep them informed and to manage passage through the bridge site.

Please be re-assured that the Trust is working towards re-opening the bridge at the earliest opportunity and further notices will be issued to keep customers informed.
