Floating market comes to Banbury

This summer the Oxford Canal in Banbury will play host to Britain’s biggest floating market as it continues its tour of the nation’s waterways.

Taking place on the 1 – 3 August along the towpath next to Spiceball Park just opposite the Castle Quay shopping centre, this three day event is expected to be real hub of activity with nine trade boats selling everything from canal ware, fashion, jewellery, rope crafts, doggie gifts, waterway DVD's , handmade gifts & all things Spanish.

Neil Owen, acting waterway manager for the Canal & River Trust, said: “I'm delighted to welcome this floating market to the Banbury and hope that the local people come and visit our beautiful canals and help support this really wonderful community event along the water.”

Michael Wooding, from the Roving Canal Traders Association, said: “We want to get as many people as possible to visit the waterways this summer and really get out and see what there is to see and do along the canal. On market day there should be plenty of exciting things to do, see and eat, and it should be a really great family day out.”
