Canal & River Trust Great Nature Watch

To celebrate the launch of the Canal & River Trust, we've developed a brand new, free mobile phone app which allows all you otter spotters, fish fanciers and twitchers out there to tell us about the wildlife you can see on and around the water, directly from the towpath.

Whether it’s a trout, a toad or a tern, as long as it’s wild, we want to hear about it. This handy app allows you to record what you’ve seen from wherever you are on a canal, river, reservoir or dock. Not only that, it has a handy Species ID, which has images and description of 60 different types of wildlife you can spot on the water, as well as ‘live maps’ which show you what other people in your area have already spotted.

Just search for eNatureWatch in iTunes or Google Play to download the app and get spotting!

All the records we collect are used by the Trust’s environment team to keep an eye on what wildlife is living where. This invaluable information helps to keep us informed when we are planning work and helps us to protect and preserve those species that need a helping hand.
