Most boats on inland waterways have diesel engines and use solid-fuel stoves for heating. While boats’ contribution to carbon and air polluting emissions is low, there’s still room to reduce emissions.

    Most boats on inland waterways have diesel engines and use solid-fuel stoves for heating. The Trust is partnering in pilot schemes to install electricity charging points at inner city moorings, which encourages the use of electricity for heating as well as propulsion.

We offer a boat licence discount to electric boats and some boats are now converting to solar power and batteries.
